For more than 15 years we, as the Academy of English, accompany and support candidates in a number of different language examinations. However, none is more appreciated then a highly professional, high stakes and high linguistical proficiency examination as the Occupational English Test.

Should you be at the beginning of preparing, or simply gathering information, about how to get the ball rolling, we would whole heartedly recommend you assess your current language level. This can be done by using one of these free  Cambridge English test. Where this will give you a fairly good understanding of your current language level, it will not necessarily introduce you to the intricacies of the OET examination. The OET, like every other language examination, requires you to portray two different skill sets – language skills and test-taking skills.

To gain a good understanding of what to expect when enrolling for the OET, a simulation of a shortened version might be advisable.

At the Academy of English you can book an OET placement assessment, irrespective of any course or training, depending on your schedule. What is important, however, is that you can take 2h of your time, to sit the placement assessment with us. This can either be done in person at our venue or remote via any videocall platform.

Once you have done the assessment, we will grade your papers within 48h and invite you for a Feedback session during which a closer look is paid to your strengths and areas that might need improvement. On the basis of that we will provide you with a bespoke offer towards your language and test-taking skill development.

Based on the results of your previous examinations or your placement assessment we will create an individuallized curriculum, catering to your particular areas of improvement. These will vary greately depending on your previous experiences, contact with the English language and time for preparing for the OET examination.

We would always recommend doing at least a placement assessment before registering for an OET examination, so your specific timeframe for preparation can be specified and passing the examination is a realistic prospect.

Your course could pottentially consist of the following modules, is however just an example, not a deffinitive course outline:

  • 8 UE Listening Module (focusing on listening for gist and intention, different test taking strategies)
  • 6 UE Speaking Module (elevating the appropriation of language, using approriate grammar and structuring approaches)
  • 6 UE Writing Module (understanding the layout and structure of a medical letter, elevating formal, professional sentence structure)

We offer a wide range of different study programs for the OET and will help you achieve your desired outcome in the most efficient way.

At present we are the only OET test venue in Germany offering the OET paper-based exam. Thus, we have the privilege of understanding what pressure you are under on test day. Our test venue staff will not be the same staff that will help you prepare for the test day however we do work closely together and try to help you as best we can to support you on your OET journey.

Whether it is help with finding the ideal test date, giving advice on preparation courses, or information you´ll need for the test day, we are fully equipped to offer you a one source solution.

For your registration at the respective council/board, you´ll require your documents translated and some even notarized.

To support you in this field, we offer translation services on various documents for several purposes, however we do require some information about your documents to give you a precise quote:

  • What is the word-count of the document?
  • How time-sensitive is this document?
  •  Will you need the document notarized?
  • Is it possible to send the document in a .docx format?
